Note: the only reason I gave this product 1 star is because I can't give it zero (or a negative rating).



I just had the unfortunate experience of trying to get a "me2" handheld to work.

I spent an hour on it - an hour I'll never get back - and I've come to the conclusion that this product is just NOT ready for prime time.



1. the markings in the battery case are back to front - if you follow those markings, you get batteries in backwards, and the handheld won't power up



2. it won't connect to a mac



3. when connected to a windows pc running XP, there is no autorun - I eventually hunted for a setup.exe and found one.

(This was the hardest step - the instructions around this step are in that odd "translated-from-Chinese" language that's impossible to interpret).



4. I still can't get to connect on-line - I'm prompted to install macromedia shockwave 10.1 from the browser - that won't install automatically - when I install manually, I'm offered Adobe shockwave 11.1.

After installing Adobe shockwave 11.1, the browser still says I'm missing a plug-in.



5. I can't download games for the handheld - when I click on that command, I'm told it's "coming soon"



So I can't download games (the handheld comes with just 1 simple game), and I can't play on-line (because of a shockwave plug-in mismatch).

And it's taken me an hour to get to this stage - the on-line help and documentation is spotty at best, phone help is only available 9-5 Mon-Fri EST, and the documentation and help (both printed and on-line) are full of spelling mistakes and uninterpretable instructions.



In short this is a shoddy, far-from-complete piece of work, which is absolutely NOT ready for primetime.



Final kicker - I wanted to e-mail this rant to assistance@me2universe.com, but the e-mail was rejected with

mailbox unavailable or not local (state 14)



Sheesh.

I followed the directions. Downloaded the software. Connected and played online. Everything works great. Didn't even crash my computer. Just read the directions that come with the ME2. Then as you download it, it has directions along the way. You can hear it clicking away when you walk. It works when it's in your pocket or clipped to your belt. I received lots of points in a matter of minutes. I also downloaded 2 more games from the website. Read the directions....

My 11 year old REALLY wanted this toy, it was on the top of his list for Christmas. He opened it, was really excited and I haven't heard or seen of it since Christmas Day. I had been eyeing this for a while and finally found a great deal on amazon [...] It was between this slide and the Little Tikes Easystore Large Slide. After reading reviews regarding the difficulty assembling the Little Tikes Slide, ths seemed the easy choice. So far no complaints! We bought it for indoor use, so the kids can exert some energy during the months when its too cold or too hot to play outdoors.

3. Our 3 1/2 yr old likes to hang on the plastic black bar you see in the picture. I'm concerned it might break.



You get the good with the bad on this purchase. Fortunately, the bad really isn't so bad. It IS large, and since I bought it for indoor use we really have to open up a space in the room when we bring it out. If your plan is to use it outside then this won't be an issue for you.



I'd say its about 5'5 when folded up. It fold ups easy and narrow. It really is meant to be hung when folded, because its doesn't stay together. There aren't any safety clips or anything. We have yet to hang it, so when its folded up against the wall we have to make sure its leaning or wedged in between something big so it won't tip over.



I've read some complaints about the drop at the end of the slide. Yea, there is one, but I think it depends on the child how they handle it. My 1 1/2 year old doesn't seem bothered by it. You can always slip a little pillow underneath to help.



Our only safety concern was the ladder, and this was when we first bought it 8 months ago. Our baby wasn't yet a year and so we'd have to watch her carefully when she climbed up. All in all, this has been one of our better large toy purchases. I'm pleasantly surprised at how much use our kids have gotten out of it!

I bought this for my 18 month old because it had handle she could hold while sitting down. A year later and she still loves. It is sturdy and easy for adults to move. I like how she can use it as she grows. The slide is not too steep for little ones and she doesn't slide off the bottom.

I've read reviews on both the single and 2 player versions of this game,and while I assume the single player came first and has been stated to have a slight delay when you shoot targets, the 2 player game doesn't appear to have much of a delay. I cant be sure( I haven't used the single player game, only the 2 player version) but the one I have seems ok.Accuracy is very good considering.The arcade version is about as accurate( the plug-in-tv version has cross hairs that move around, whereas the arcade version does not. ) The shotguns both feel about the same as the arcade version as well.The battery life of the game is good, but not the sensor that goes by the television.If I were you, I would keep ALOT of spare AAA batteries in the house.( lucky I know how to rig an adapter to it)For me,the only CON with the product hass the sensor that goes by the TV which detects your aim runs by batteries. Hopefully the next version comes out with an AC adapter you can use .Despite this, its a really fun game.

I bought this from Sam's Club. My family and I are very pleased. We watched someone playing an arcade game at Cabelas similar to this. This game only involves deer(unlike the one at Cabela's, which included rams and moose). Bonus rounds include shooting jugs, ducks, frogs, and even spaceships which are trying to steal cattle. You get extra points for accuracy and small critters on the screen. I have only owned it for a few days,but we've had no problems.

My 5 and 7 -year olds like it, too. My wife really enjoys it.

Be careful when you calibrate. The box says to stay 3-4 ft. away. 6-8 feet has worked great for us. Our TV was bought in 2001 (ours is NOT a flat screen), but it works fine. The box says it works with newer screens, too. After you calibrate a gun, whoever uses that gun should stay in roughly the same place for the best results. Also, you can go to the menu and recalibrate.

It's arcade fun for sure!

By the way, we set the sensor on top of our TV instead of below the screen, and that has worked real well for us.

I bought this two gun version of this game at Sam's Club for $45.



Make sure you take your time when you calibrate each gun. I like to calibrate the gun to shoot slightly high, which means aim slightly lower during calibration, so I can see the cross-hairs on the screen a little better. The reason for this is because there is about 1/4 second lag from where the gun is pointing to the cross-hairs on the screen so when your swinging the gun to line up the shot, it takes about 1/4 second before the cross-hairs line up. I haven't played the arcade version but the lag in this home version should translate into improving your skills in the arcade version, in other words this would make this home version of the game slightly harder since you only get one chance to shoot each deer before they leave the screen for good.



The two players head-to-head makes this game great to compete against other players and you can play up to 4 players but in the 3 or 4 player mode you have to take turns using just one gun. The bonus rounds are very comical with different twists on each one making each one unique in its own way. I like to play the two player head-to head mode even when I play by myself because you get twice the cannon fodder which also means twice the score. Once I got 6 bucks in 6 shots for a score of 2199 playing the two player mode by myself. Playing the two player bonus rounds by yourself is grueling but fun to see if you can hit all the targets. You get bonuses for better accuracy which encourages you to make one shot kills and not waste your shots but it is fun just to pump out shots if you have the energy but watch-out for does when you do this.



The only real complaint is the battery life of the receiver unit that mounts on the top of the TV. It only lasted about 3-4 hours and after replacing them with more new batteries of a different brand, the same thing happened. The fix for this is to get a 4.5 volt wall plug-in transformer since the unit uses 3 AAA batteries connected in series (1.5 volt X 3 = 4.5 volts), I used one that had a 300mA rating and it worked fine. If your not technically savvy, you might want to get someone to do this for you. Make sure to get the positive wire connected to the positive terminal and negative wire connected to the negative terminal, my transformer had these marked. I also plan to rig up a 6 volt transformer for the gun units (it takes 4 AA in the green gun) so I don't have to keep buying batteries for the gun either. I think they are hooked up in series but I will double check before I pick which voltage of this transformer to use, if they are in series, that means 1.5 volts times 4 = you need a 6 volt transformer.



I have three girls from 8-12 and we all fight over who gets to play, you won't be disappointed.

I love this gun! It is so much better then anything else out there. In fact, I was working on plans to MOD/build my own gun for the Wii when I stumbled on this little beauty at the now closed Circuit City store. This gun feels right in my hand. It looks pretty cool as well, not like the other guns (cheap plastic feel).



I have logged a lot of play time with this gun so far (playing House of the Dead 2 &3 and House of the Dead Overkill) and find it very comfortable. My one small gripe is that the handle is a little short. My trigger finger and two other fingers fit fine, but my pinky just dangles. This is my only complaint, and reason why I give it only four stars. Yes, I understand it is made with children in mind, but a couple of more inches on the handle and both kids and adults could be a lot more comfortable. That said overall Great product and until there is an actual Wii gun made (like Capcom did for the Playstation)this Nerf gun is the top of the line.

While I liked the Wii Zapper, I did want a pistol-style gun as well so I searched out for an alternative that I can use. Unfortunately I did not like the alternatives for one reason or the other. Some had the trigger in the wrong place while others either had too much pull on the trigger or the trigger spring was stronger than I like (I did not like Nyko's Perfect Shot for this reason).



The Switch Shot has several advantages it shares with the Wii Zapper over the other guns. The trigger, like the Wii Zapper, only requires a light press to activate so it's easy to fire for kids or people who prefer a light trigger. Also like the Zapper, the remote holding and release mechanism is designed so that you can insert and remove the remote from the gun with minimal friction damage yet provide a secure hold on the remote during gameplay. Finally, it's the only other gun I tried that let's you keep the strap on the remote during insertion and use.



There are a few disadvantages for the Switch Shot one of which is that it's front-heavy due to where they positioned the remote in the gun. I feel with some tweaking they could have made a better-balanced gun but it is not a deal-breaker as you can overcome this by using the other hand to support the gun. One of the advantage I mentioned above, the light trigger, can be a turn-off for those who prefer the Perfect Shot's spring trigger. Also as one of the other reviewers mentioned, the mechanism that holds the remote in place does seem like it can break if you try to pull on it without pushing the release button. However, as long as you don't grab onto that part during gameplay (there shouldn't be any reason to), it shouldn't be a problem and it does seem sturdy enough when left alone.



The Switch Shot has an open area in the back that allows the Nunchuck to be attached so it is compatible with games that use Zapper-controls. It can also be converted into an actual Nerf gun which for me is a mild bonus since I don't really have a use for it other than shooting it at anyone who intrudes on my game-playing. ;) Overall I do like it a lot compared to the other guns.
